Ben Levin asks: Hey guys I was doing some maintainence on the boat tonight, simple new impeller install and gear case oil change. I’ve worked at marinas in the past as a tech, but it’s been about 5 years since I’ve done a Yamaha.

Oil change is done and I’m on the impeller, when this collar holds up the operation. I’m assuming it’s positioned at the perfect spot to make a seal or stop the driveshaft from wobbling. Anyways I don’t recall coming across this before, any ideas? I can’t slide the impeller or housing off with it there. It appears to have a rubber lining in it

Motor is a 2013 Yamaha F90

You scratched yo tool box!!!! Nooooooooooo!

Yes it is to keep the shaft from wobbling it is a rubber insert with a brass center you can grind it off and replace it is suppose to be in the mid housing and held in by a cir clip you have to grease the shaft there or it will lock up
