Robert Moake asks: I’m looking at purchasing a new , or possibly used, trolling motor for my 22 ft pathfinder. I’ve been doing some research, and pretty sure I want a 70 lb. Don’t really want the added cost of going 36 volt. Looking for opinions between motorguide and minn kota. I know this is kinda like ford vs Chevy, but let’s hear it.

It’s actually evinvrude(minnkota) vs mercury(motorguide). I use motorguide hand controlled 82 lb thrust 60 in shaft. I fish in Jacksonville fl, heavy river current and in the creeks.

I’m on my 3rd Minn Kota ulterra remote. It’s getting annoying get to the spot tournament morning and nothing.

I have owned two 24 volt and 2 12 volt Minn Kotas and all were good dependable motors. I have owned two Moto guide (Great Whites) and they corroded to the point of being non functional within two years each.

Love my 80lbs two bank ipilot.

Go with 80lb not 70lb, still 24v system.
