It is recommended, cheap insurance compared to a overheated blown motor. It’s easy, you can save cash and do it yourself in am hour or so

Thanks Guys! I just bought a 96 Hydra-Sports Hydra Skiff I’m still learning the ins and outs and I appreciate all the feedback.I take the boat out every other week so hopefully thats enough to keep the engine in good shape.. I’m in St Pete and took to Van Wagner Boats in Largo hope they do a decent job…

Every two years is not just the impeller your replacing your also greasing splines some brands have issues with shaft getting fused inside powerhead ie.Nissan and Tohatsu I’ve had a couple merc fuse together as well

I change it every 100 hours. And I use only Wsm parts when I do. You should give Wsm parts a try.

All impellers are not created equal.
Say …. a Mercruiser Gen 1 , it takes seconds to annihilate its impeller
But , a gen 2 ive seen run 10 minutes and live with minor damage.
General rule of thumb
We do them about every 2 years, some of my guys are on a 1yr schedule and some are on a 3 or 4 year. In reality, the more you run it the better, sand kills them and extended sitting kills them
