Billy Fordham asks: Wanting to service my lower unit (prop/shaft seals, water pump, upper seals). In the Tampa area what would be a regular cost for such work if I remove the lower unit? 1998 yamaha c40tlrw

Probably around 300 depending on cost for parya

Do it yourself- it’s so easy- YouTube it- buy parts from SIM Yamaha

A shop has the special tools to get the bearing out and check the shaft run out. Plus pressure test. If they do it , the shift adjustment is checked . I always did my own waterpump , but the seals are a different deal.

About 250.00 if you have it done. About 100.oo maybe if you do it yourself. And change the impeller while you have it off.
